Game Design and Development Degrees

While any of our degree programs can prepare you for a career in interactive media, these three programs are the most closely focused on game design and development. Do you want to build the systems and technology that make games possible? If so, consider either of the two computer science programs listed below. Are you looking for a game design degree that emphasizes human behavior, motivation, and the crafting of memorable interactive experiences? You may be more suited to the Bachelor of Arts in Game Design program. Whichever program you choose, you’ll be exposed to a variety of subjects and ideas, as well as ample opportunities to create original games as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • BA in Game Design

    This interdisciplinary degree combines coursework in game design theory, social sciences, and the humanities. Students learn the skills necessary to craft engaging and meaningful experiences for all types of games, applications, and other interactive media.

  • BS in Computer Science and Game Design

    This degree prepares you for a career as a hybrid engineer and designer, versed in both computer programming and game design. You’ll be a versatile asset on any professional development team.

  • BS in Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation

    DigiPen’s rigorous flagship degree program provides a foundation in the math and computer science of games and graphical simulations, making this an excellent program for aspiring game and software developers.
